About Des
Desmond C. Barker is President of Des Barker Associates, where he has been actively advocating on Utah's Capitol Hill and advising clients on community stewardship, image, and proactive community engagement for 31 years. A deep belief in giving back to Utah has led Des to volunteer with many non-profits throughout his career, including the Bike Utah Board, the Utah Open Lands Conservation Association Board, and the PBS Utah Board. Des is a graduate of the University of Utah in Mass Communications/Public Relations and received the Department of Communication Quintus C. Wilson Alumni Achievement Award in 2014. Des is married to Jane Macfarlane Barker and has four adult children and two grandsons. He enjoys travel adventures with family, camping, skiing, mountain biking, and hiking.
